As she opened that envelope, with the other two not getting in, I thought to myself:
“No. No! Ryan Murphy couldn’t have done this! There’s no way he is going to send this message to young actors and musicians.”
But I knew, since everything was building up to her reveal, that the moment was inevitable.
Rachel Berry succeeded, over everyone else, once again.
Here is my problem, Mr. Murphy, should you care to read it:
What you have just said to all of those high school and college tweens, teens, young adults, people my age who really shouldn’t be watching Glee, and adults and then it’s sad, is that a boy can take a chance in an audition, nail it, the FIRST time, do something out of the ordinary, make an artistic choice, and still get rejected.
A girl, your “lead girl,” though, can screw up a song because of nerves (we’ve all done it), wussed out and didn’t even barrel through it, nagged (and NAGGED AND NAGGED AND NAGGED) to Whoopi Goldberg, and still get in because that auditioner happened to see her in a showcase (that sucked her dick the entire time) (and that the other guy was ALSO in).
And then he didn’t even wrap up Kurt’s story line. At ALL.
I get that he wants to keep Kurt around. And in reality, Kurt may have not gotten in. But this shit is so obviously fiction, can’t you throw the kid a freakin’ bone here and not, for once, tell everyone that Lea Michele is so superior to all the other kids on that show?
I’ll probably delete this in a couple of days because it’s really sad that I care this much.
But I do. And not because it’s Glee. It’s because you slapped the kids that try their damn hardest in the face and told us all that some people are predestined to be stars and will always outshine you. Is that REALLY what we need to be telling this generation right now?
